Accounting Manager

Position Description:
The Accounting Manager is a full time exempt employee of Conciant Lifestyle Concierge and reports directly to the CEO and acting CFO.
Conciant is an entrepreneurial company that is now entering a very rapid growth phase- the Accounting Manager will play an essential role in helping Conciant succeed during this rapid growth period by:
1) Implementing required accounting control systems to develop accurate financial statements and to properly manage and report on cash flow, bank accounts and debt facilities;
2) Developing weekly management reports on key operating and financial statistics that are timely and accurate. Best case, the Accounting Manager will help analyze these reports to identify the critical action steps that will enable Conciant to optimize its business;
3) Implementing enhanced payroll and productivity analysis systems.
4) Oversee the collection activity and reporting of accounts receivable, with a focus on identifying concerns early and reducing the company's exposure to risk.
5) Oversee the satisfaction of accounts payable, paying bills that (a) represent fair compensation for value received by the company, and (b) are consistent with company cash flow requirements. Bills inconsistent with the company business plans and/or budgets will need to be identified and analyzed.
6) Ensure that reporting to management is timely by proactively managing data-related communications that must be received from other team members.
Once all basic accounting and control systems are in place and effectively operational, the Accounting Manager will assist the CEO and acting CFO in developing the documentation necessary to secure equity funding and/or to complete mergers and acquisitions.
The Conciant Accounting Manager will be in the “customer service business,” serving the CEO, the acting CFO and other Conciant team members in managing and growing the business. The Accounting Manager must be prepared to provide timely support to Executive Leadership – primarily in the form of business reports and analyses – so the firm can manage key customer relationships and generate positive business results.
The Accounting Manager will also be a high profile leader within the company at this critical juncture in time, responsible for delivering results while nurturing the Conciant culture of “proactive, collaborative teamwork.”
Essential Functions:
Standard Accounting Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Utilizing Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate and timely financial systems and records;
- Managing and reporting on the company’s cash flow performance and requirements;
- Implementing (or overseeing the third party provision of) accurate payroll systems;
- Developing weekly management reports as requested; and
- Working with the outside accountant to develop required financial statements and comply with required government filings.
Executive Decision Support, including but not limited to:
- Reports on business activity by client, by region, by individual;
- Reports / projections on revenue growth, profitability, cash flow performance; and
- Packages required for debt applications, equity transactions and/or M&A activity.
Accounting Team Developing, including but not limited to:
- Identifying when new Accounting team members are required, working with Human Resources to develop appropriate job descriptions and hiring packages,
- Documenting the business case for Executive Leadership;
- Helping to recruit, hire and on-board new team members;
- Managing the productivity and effectiveness of new team members, while making sure they understand and are committed to the Conciant culture of proactive, collaborative teamwork.
- Evaluating team member performance. Growing and rewarding effective team members.
- Establishing and monitoring performance standards, ensuring the timely preparation and submission of employee appraisals in accordance with personnel policy.
- Ensuring effective allocation of resources across all areas of the operation to faciliate profitable growth.
- Building a "Team" atmosphere with all team members.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The Employee may be required to occasionally lift/or move up to 10 pounds. Work is performed in a professional office setting in the corporate office, utilizing telephone, computer, fax machine, and other office equipment. Specific vision abilities are required in this job and they include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Skills Required:

To be successful, the Accounting Manager must exhibit the following traits and behaviors:
a) an ability to collaborate with the firm’s CEO, acting CFO, and outside accountant to develop and implement required systems, taking personal responsibility for making sure these systems adapt and grow with the company;
b) an ability to work independently – with a sense of urgency, but with careful accuracy – to provide timely and accurate management reports as required / requested;
c) an ability to identify, raise and discuss appropriate issues, concerns and/or opportunities effectively with company executives;
d) a willingness to “do what it takes” – to pitch in when required – to make sure the business and its team members prosper, including but not limited to: i) developing custom reports (by account, by region, by team member) upon request; ii) developing company information packages to support M&A activity; and iii) developing short-term business and cash flow projections to support business financing activity; and
e) an ability to hire and develop new team members as the growth of the business requires the expansion of the Accounting team.
This will not be a position with standard working hours. It will be a very demanding job, but it should be a very rewarding job that grows in responsibility and scope as the company grows.
The key individual skills for this job will include, but not be limited to:
- Ability to multi-task – the Accounting Manager must be adept at handling multiple projects and simultaneous priorities calmly and effectively;
- Ability to keep multiple tasks well organized and accessible – the Accounting Manager will work on multiple projects with many different teams, all with urgent time frames. It will be absolutely essential that the Accounting Manager have strong organizational skills;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines – as different tasks are juggled and different teams are involved, the Accounting Manager must be able to effectively prioritize tasks and deadlines;
- Ability to hire, train, supervise and provide clear direction – as the Accounting team grows, the Accounting Manager will hire, train and lead the Accounting team. The Accounting Manager must provide clear direction with respect to expectations, deadlines and results, while maintaining the proactive, collaborative teamwork fundamental to Conciant’s culture;
- Ability to communicate effectively with grace and candor – the Accounting Manager must be a good communicator. Sometimes the news will be positive, sometimes the feedback will be negative or “constructively critical.” In every case – written and verbal – the Accounting Manager must be an effective communicator that prompts positive action;
- Ability to use relevant computer systems and software – the Accounting Manager must be proficient in Quickbooks, Excel and other basic software systems. The Accounting Manager must be proficient at managing payroll systems (helping to determine if Conciant maintains an internal payroll system or if we outsource this function).
- The Accounting Manager will be expected to understand and adhere to company policies.
- The Accounting Manager must at all times adhere to the highest ethical standards.

Indications of Top Performance:
- Conciant grows at or above business plan projections, in part because executive leadership is able to effectively analyze and manage the business based on reports (and recommendations) from the Accounting Manager.
- Payrolls are timely, accurate and complete.
- Required tax and regulatory filings are submitted correctly and on time.
- Management reports are accurate, timely and actionable.
- New team members hit the ground running, providing effective work (in a manner consistent with Conciant’s culture) immediately.
- Executive Leadership indicates that the Accounting Manager provides effective and timely business counsel.
Qualifications:
The Accounting Manager will be an individual with at least 6 years or more of accounting experience at the management level. S/he will have hands on experience with Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel. Conciant may require a hands-on demonstration of proficiency in both Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks.
The Accounting Manager will have the following preferred experience:
- Experience and demonstrated success with a growth company is preferred.
- CPA preferred
- Demonstrated passion for the mission; a hands-on manager with impeccable integrity
- Professional references will be required.
The Accounting Manager will be hired based on a multi-phase process that may include all of the following steps: 1) a screening interview; 2) reference and background checks; 3) multiple interviews by Conciant executives and advisers; 4) hands-on demonstration of proficiency with Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel; and 5) drug testing.

We are currently looking for Residential Lifestyle Concierges to serve as Lifestyle Concierge experts by fulfilling member requests via phone, email, in-person, and through interactive service portals. Residential Lifestyle Concierges are provided vast resources to fulfill member requests, and must communicate responses in a prompt and concise manner. Member service requests are wide ranging and may include, but are not limited to, requests for restaurant recommendations and reservations, floral delivery, gift and personal shopping, ticket purchases, locating hard to find and luxury items, arranging for journey and accommodations.
Conciant’s service directory is comprehensive and contains hundreds of services most typically requested by Conciant members. In addition, each Residential Lifestyle Concierge must be able to utilize the Internet and other resources to fulfill member requests. The Residential Lifestyle Concierge must be able to leverage current partners, and update the Conciant database with contacts, for example new restaurant information including name, address, phone number, and website and/or menu links.
Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Qualifications:

- Must be Internet savvy with the ability to quickly gather information utilizing online resources and search engines
- Able to type 35 WPM
- Ability to be highly resourceful, with a strong investigative nature
- Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service
- Polite, friendly, responsive phone demeanor
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Computer literacy required with ability to navigate and maneuver across multiple applications. Previous experience with Mac computers and Google Apps for business is a plus

The City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I are Lifestyle Concierge experts fulfilling member based requests via phone, email, and interactive service portals. City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I are provided vast resources at their fingertips to fulfill member requests, and must communicate responses in a prompt and concise manner. Conciant is currently hiring full-time, part-time and flextime telecommuting City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I.
Conciant operates 24/7/365, including holidays and has 3 standard shifts:
Day Shift 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Sunday
Swing Shift 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM Monday through Sunday
Graveyard Shift 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM Monday through Sunday
Full-time City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I are required to work 30-40 hours weekly, currently broken into 8-8.5 hour shifts. Part-time City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I are required to work a minimum of 15 hours a week, currently broken into shifts between 4 and 8 hours in length, not to exceed 28 hours a week. Weekend and Holiday work is required.
City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I is a telecommuting position. Telecommuting is defined as work and transportation alternatives that substitute home-to-work commuting with the option of working at a homework site while meeting the business needs of Conciant. Therefore, City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I is a home-based position with Conciant. *Conciant will provide each City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I with the necessary equipment and tools to perform the job.

System and Office Requirements to be provided by the City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I:
*Conciant currently provides City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I with a company owned computer, keypad, mouse and phone system to use during the term of employment pursuant to the terms of the Equipment Loan Form For Employees, Lifestyle Concierge Telecommuter Agreement and Telecommuting Policy. However, for the first 45 days of the term of your employment Conciant may require City Specialist Lifestyle Concierge I to use their own personal computer, the requirements for which are outlined below. Conciant orders work computers in quantities as Conciant hires, and it can take up to 45 days before computers arrive.
